How Long Will My Results Last?

The exact period of time that you can enjoy your implant is entirely individual, however the majority of patients have about 50-80% of the effect remain after 6 months. Exact amount of time depends on your skin’s structure, lifestyle, age, and degree of perfection desired. Most people choose to have a touch-up done within a year of their original treatment.

What to Expect

From your initial assessment to your follow-up care, here is what you can expect when you choose Ajax Ophthalmology Associates for your dermal filler treatment.

Consultation & Assessment

A personalized evaluation to discuss your aesthetic goals and determine which filler — Restylane® or Perlane® — is right for you. Your provider will assess the areas under and around the eye and develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs.

Pre-Treatment Preparation

A numbing cream, ice, or local anesthetic is applied to ensure your comfort throughout the procedure. Your provider will prepare the treatment sites based on your individualized plan.

Treatment

Using a sterile needle, your physician precisely injects the filler to lift wrinkles, restore lost volume, and create a natural lift around the eyes. The procedure takes approximately 30 minutes, with results appearing almost instantaneously. Mild swelling or bruising may occur and typically fades within a few days.

Recovery & Follow-up

Most patients experience little to no downtime and return to normal activities right away. Results vary by individual, with the majority of patients retaining 50 to 80 percent of their results at the six-month mark. A touch-up appointment within the year helps maintain your outcome over time.

Restylane® is a clear crystal gel used for filling out lips, facial wrinkles, and facial folds. Restylane can smooth wrinkles and enhance lips instantly. Restylane is naturally integrated into the tissue and are completely biologically degradable. Restylane is composed of non-animal hyaluronic acid, which is present in all living things. In your skin, the naturally-occurring hyaluronic acid creates volume and fullness, resulting in a youthful appearance. Restylane is injected into the skin in the form of a clear gel. Once in the skin, Restylane works together with your body to volumnize the areas that have thinned and wrinkled over time. The difference between Restylane and other permanent implants is Restylane’s unique ability to bind with water. When the molecules dissolve, they turn into water.
